The
RIM Molding Process
RIM combines the benefits of plastic injection molding
geometries and low part price with inexpensive tooling,
the ability to have varying wall thickness, make very
large parts, and encapsulation of inserts.
The RIM door to the left measures
7'2" tall by 3'9" wide. RIM replaced sheetmetal
with a part that is lighter, less expensive, has better
acoustic insulation, and has more complex geometries.
